Kick-start the party

The holiday season is about having fun, so we have put together a list of songs as well as some refreshing drinks to get people in the party mood.

There’s nothing like a Christmas joke that’s so bad it elicits a chuckle from even the grumpiest Grinch in the family. We have found the best of the worst to put into your own homemade crackers for the dinner table.

Mānuka honey margarita

Picture
Well summer couldn’t go by without slurping on a few ice cold margaritas!
Cut a lime into wedges, for the rim and extra limes for garnish.
Makes: 2 glasses

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 4 tablespoons (about two limes) freshly squeezed lime juice, strained
  • 2-3 tablespoons of mānuka honey
  • A couple of handfuls of ice
  • Additional lime wedges, for rubbing on the rim and for garnish
  • Salt (I used black salt to make it look funky)
  • Mānuka flower stem for garnish

Directions:
Rub a lime wedge along the rim of two small glasses and then dip the rim into a small plate of salt.

Use a blender rather than a cocktail shaker otherwise the honey solidifies when you add it to the ice and combine; tequila, lime juice, honey and ice.

Pour into prepared glasses.

Garnish with a wedge of lime and sprig of mānuka.

Tip: if you find they are too strong then just top off with a little cold water.

Watermelon and mānuka honey slushie

So easy ! You could also do this with strawberries.

All you need to do is slice up 2 cups of watermelon, throw it in a blender with about a teaspoon of mānuka honey and  2 cups of ice, and press start.

Christmas jokes

To kick things off...

One night a Viking named Rudolph the Red was looking out the window when he said, “It’s going to rain.”
His wife asked, “How do you know?”
“Because Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear.”
